It's March 2020 and HOLY MOLY we have had a crazy year so far, haven't we? I know, like most people, you have a little bit of panic going on inside your head. I wanna give you some tips and tricks to help you during this chaotic time. Are you ready to try a few things? I know that they have helped me :)
1. Act as normal as possible!
Although we are all on quarantine and most out of work, try to stay as "normal" as possible. Get up at your normal time, get dressed and ready like you normally would, live your life right here and now. It will help your subconscious stay sane.
2. Stay away from the negative social media
If you're like me, I get online and my anxiety goes up and my mind goes crazy. If I'm reading or watching too much news I get negative and cant focus on living "normal". I recommend you start only following positivity an only check the news once a day and set a timer for 10 minutes on your phone.
3. Take care of yourself!
Make sure to drink your water, take your vitamins, shower, wash your hands, eat good, Whole Foods, and stay away from sugar. Listen to music to boost your mood. Taking care of yourself keeps you happy!
4. Take advantage of this time to grow!
Podcasts, YouTube videos, Audible books and so much more are convenient and (mostly, except audible) are free to listen to. They help you learn something new or grow in something you already know.
5. Ground yourself!
Go outside and walk around barefoot. Ground yourself while getting some natural Vitamin D. Sunlight and fresh air will boost your mood and keep you healthy! It also fights depression.
6. STAY HOME!
I know, I know, you've already heard this, but SERIOUSLY.....STAY HOME!!!! Keep yourself safe! Craft, blare some music and dance, walk outside around your home, watch the sunrise or sunset, deep clean, de-clutter, read, write, gratitude journal, take a bath, etc. Enjoy your home <3
7. Move your booty!
Remember to move your body at least 30 minutes a day! Dance party, YouTube workout video, Yoga, stretching, walking in your yard, grab 2 cans of food to use for weights, work on your posture, just move! Strengthen your body and help the endorphins flow!
8. Connect with others virtually!
Have an iPhone, FaceTime! Have Facebook, messenger video! Have online access, Zoom or Skype! Video the people you love to brighten their day and yours! Don't talk about the negative, focus on the positive. Swap ideas of things to do at home or the book you're currently loving. Start a book club and check in via video weekly! Make it fun and enjoy others! Remind them that you care!
9. Support local businesses!
We are all worried about money in one way or another, but what you give comes back 10x they say! Make sure you are supporting those small businesses to keep them okay during this time and treating yourself or others to some new goodies! Your single purchase of an item or a gift card can really make a difference. If you just can't financially help a business give them a 5 star google review, share their posts, talk about them with your friends, show support and love by liking and commenting on their pages.
Whether you give physical items, words of encouragement, compliments, love, support, cards in the mail, thinking of you texts, online gift cards, a smile, a virtual hug, or something handmade. Giving helps keep your spirit happy and the person receiving it!
There you go! Hope it helps! Let us know what else you'd add to our list!
As always reach out if you're interested in booking a self-love portrait experience :) I'd love to photograph you!
xoxo, Sending you lots of love and light!!!!
Boudoir Images???? YAAASSSS QUEEN!!!!
Have you seen those gorgeous, breathtaking images and wanted some of your own???? Yes girl, we understand!
Now you're looking for the perfect photographer for you.... Well let me start off by saying that you definitely need to look at way more than the price! Let me give you a quick few tips on how to choose the best photographer for you...
Yay! You're here! That means you've decided to step out of your comfort zone and give boudoir a chance. I am so excited for you!
Here are our 5 top questions you can ask your photographer and a few helpful tips to help you find the answers!
1. Do they specialize in Boudoir?
This is important for so many reasons, but to keep it simple, you want them to provide you with images that you love and boost your self-love, not images that make you feel bad and make your confidence drop. You want their focus on women and not all over the place with weddings, seniors, babies, pets and everything else under the sun. Do they have experience working with women of ALL different shapes, colors, and sizes of women? Have they taken the time and invested the money into learning about women bodies and how to pose them in an empowering way?
TIP: Check out their Facebook, Instagram and website pages to see if they have a variety of women or if they only photograph one type of woman.
You want to choose a photographer that is going to make you feel beautiful and confident in your own skin, not someone who is going to make you fit a make-believe mold.
2. Are you comfortable with your photographer?
First of all, when hiring a photographer you want to look into who they are as a person. Do they relate with you, could you see yourself enjoying coffee with them? When you arrive for your shoot, you'll walk in nervous and you're wondering why the heck you thought this was a good idea. If the photographer isn't careful, those anxieties can show up in your photos and really ruin your experience. Knowing a little about your photographer beforehand can help you feel more at ease when it's time to step in front of the camera.
TIP: Ask about setting up a phone, video or in-person consultation prior to your session so that you can get a good feel for them. This will give you the opportunity to build trust and ask questions about your upcoming shoot. That way, you will walk into your session feeling confident in yourself and in the connection you've established with your photographer.
3. Do you love their style?
What style of boudoir are you looking for? Are you hoping for light and airy images that make you feel cute and playful? Or are you hoping for something a little more dark and moody that helps you get in touch with your deep goddess side?
TIP: Create a Pinterest board of boudoir poses and styles that you love. Once you know what you love, you can reference the photographers style to what you are hoping to achieve in your own session.
4. Do they offer a full experience?
Does your photographer have a location were your session will be held? Do they offer professional hair and makeup? Do they include lashes to make your eyes pop in photos? Do they guide you on choosing outfits and have a wardrobe you can choose from if you have nothing to wear? Knowing this ahead of time can help you plan ahead for the big day. Some boudoir photographers prefer to shoot in a hotel or your home, rather than a studio. If this is something that you're NOT comfortable with, you'll want to be sure your photographer has a private studio available for your session.
TIP: Hair and makeup is very important due to the way cameras capture us, so make sure to make arrangements with a local hair and makeup artist the day of your session if your photographer does not include one.
5. Do they offer payment plans?
Boudoir photography with the right photographer is worth way more than its weight in Gold!!!! Knowing that they offer payment plans can ease your stress, ease your mind and help financially when it comes time to purchase your images and products. Ask if the photographer offered plans and make sure there are different types of payment plans available to fit your budget and your needs!
TIP: During your consultation ask your photographer if they offer a pre-purchasing payment plan! With a pre-purchasing payment plan, you can make payments up until 7 days prior to your session in anyway that fits your budget! PLUS many photographers, like us here at Grace Marie Studios, will offer FREE products just for pre-purchasing!!!!

Ladies!!! If you're questioning wether or not this experience is for you, let me tell you, I've been where you are.....
I asked a client to share her experience with me in writing so that I could post it on our blog and I seriously cried when I read it!
This is MY WHY! This is why I do what I do!
Read below to understand.......
Grace and I met on Facebook in July of 2017. We instantly connected over a shared love of photography and a desire to empower other women. She invited me to join her VIP group and I instantly fell in love with her work. While I admired the other women on her page for their courage to step in front of her lens, I couldn't imagine allowing myself to be that vulnerable. I continued to watch from the sidelines until a year later. By this point, I had finally exhausted all of my reasons why I shouldn't, and I booked a session for the following November. I thought worst case scenario, if I hate the images, no one ever has to see them besides Grace and I.
The time in between quickly fell away. The week before my session had arrived and Grace reached out to share her excitement for my upcoming shoot. That's when I really started to panic. I must have read and re-read her prep-guide 50 times and still asked a million questions. The thoughts in my head ran wild, "Do I have the right style of shoes? Are they the right color? Should I go buy new ones incase these don't work? What about my lingerie? Will it be flattering for my body type? Should I take T-shirts instead? Oh my gosh, I need a new bra, but what style? Lace or no lace? Black, nude, or colored? What was I thinking! I am NOT prepared for this!" Needless to say, I was a nervous wreck. In the end I packed every piece of lingerie that I owned, a leather jacket, three pairs of heels, two different bras, five different styles of underwear in various colors, and a couple of PJ sets that were a "safe" option incase I chickened out. The morning of my session I awoke with knots in my stomach. Hands shaking, I drove to the studio, then sat in my car for what seemed like forever trying to get up the courage to go inside. I don't remember what I told myself, but somehow I finally managed to get out of the car and walk through the door. What I found on the other side was so much more than I had expected!
Inside it was all smiles, excitement, and so much positivity. The women who greeted me were kind and caring and worked to help me calm my nerves as they styled and pampered me in preparation for my shoot. While Grace and her team encouraged me to try new things, they never pushed me beyond what I was comfortable with. Even though I had no clue what I was going to look like when they had finished, it was calming to know that my opinion mattered. I can still remember the feeling of pure joy and awe the first time I saw myself in the mirror. The woman standing before me exude strength, grace and beauty. I remember thinking "Wow! I look like the women on her page! If I can look like them, I can totally be brave like them." Before long I had shed my fears and embraced a whole new side of myself and I've never looked back.
I gifted my album to my husband on our wedding day. He told me that as much as he loves the pictures, he loves more the confidence that the experience has brought me. The woman I am today, is not the same as the woman who met Grace on Facebook in 2017. Although I may not always feel like her, I am the woman in those pictures. On days when that doubt sets in, I have a physical reminder that I am strong, graceful, and beautiful. I am so grateful for this experience and the change it has brought out in me.
A session with Grace is so much more than a photo shoot. It's an experience. It's chance to take off the blind fold we put on and to see ourselves for who we truly are. That ladies, is something everyone should experience. So if you're questioning if this is for you, the answer is yes, absolutely! Do not let fear or self-doubt hold you back. THIS IS TOTALLY FOR YOU!
Here are the images I chose for my 12X12 album...
